FAQ's

How do I place an order?
The first step is to fill out an enquiry form. From there, any additional consultation is done via email before being provided with a quote.

Once I have provided you with a quote, a 50% deposit will be required within 7 days to secure your booking, with full payment due 2 weeks prior to your event. For bookings made with less than one month notice, or with a value of $150 or less, full payment will be required.

Please note that bookings are only confirmed once a formal quote is received and the deposit is paid.

Do you deliver?

I do offer a delivery service, but this is strictly limited to my availability. Usually all my clients will pick up on a Saturday morning, between 9:30-11:30am or as discussed on a weekday evening. When possible, delivery is $40+, based on location. It is recommended that delivery be organised for wedding/tiered cakes.

How much notice do you require?

I recommend 3-4 weeks as a minimum to place an order. As I have limited spots each week for cake orders, the sooner you contact me about your cake, the better. I do occasionally have the capacity to take on last minute orders depending on cake size and design style, so you are always welcome to try your luck!

What happens if I need to change/cancel my order?

Any major changes to your order less than two full weeks before the required pickup/delivery date, may incur a fee to cover the reworking of the cake design and/or loss of work already completed/purchased for the original order.

Deposits (50% of total cost) are non-refundable. A credit for the deposit may be forwarded to a new booking date if the customer gives at least 7 days notice ahead of time. If you cancel the booking or fail to give 7 days notice for date changes, you will forfeit your deposit and will require another deposit for a new booking date.

Are all your cakes buttercream?

Yes! All H&H cakes are filled and covered using a delicious variation of the French Buttercream recipe. By special request, I do include additional fillings such as chocolate ganache, salted caramel, jam, fruit curd and crushed biscuits and nuts. I do not make any fondant covered cakes, sorry!

Can you accommodate dietary requirements?

All cakes are made in the same kitchen where nuts, gluten and dairy are present. Due to this, H&H does not offer any DF, GF or NF cakes.

Can my florist decorate the cake?

Unfortunately, I do not allow anyone else to dress H&H cakes. The finishing touches are often the entirety of the design and this attention to detail is more than likely the very reason you have come to H&H in the first place! In certain circumstances, I can work together with your florist and have them supply the cake flowers. I will then prepare them and place them on the cake ahead of pick up/delivery.

Do you copy other cake designs?

In short, no I do not. In saying this, pictures can be very helpful in the initial enquiry and consultation process. I welcome clients to send pictures of cakes as inspiration, and to talk with me about what elements they are liking. This helps me to get a better understanding of the clients desired style.

Overwhelmed by everything out there and don't know exactly what you are wanting?

Perfect! My best cake creations have come from some of the most simple points of detail... a party theme, a colour, the event invite, or even an outfit you are wearing on the day! Then you just sit back, relax (in excited anticipation) and let me surprise you.

How do I transport my cake?

I advise that you transport your cake on a flat surface in your vehicle (the floor in front of the passenger seat or boot space) with the air conditioner on. Whilst driving, be sure to take corners and break slowly. Placing a piece of non stick mat on the flat surface prior to putting down the cake box can be super handy.

Important to note… If the cake is not being delivered straight to its final destination, it must be refrigerated before any further transport.

How do I store my cake?

H&H cakes must be refrigerated. For optimum taste, always serve your cake at room temperature. This depends on the season, however between 1-2 hours out of the fridge before cutting and eating is a safe time frame.

If you are not eating the cake on the day of pickup, store the cake (as given in its box) in a fridge with no odours. Fresh is always best! But it's good to know that your cake will store very well in the fridge for up to 7 days (decorations may vary).

How do I cut my cake?

Do not stress… Upon pick up, inside your cake box, you will receive a ‘Cutting Guide’. Read and follow the instructions to assist you in cutting your cake to the correct number of serves to cater for your guests.

I’ve sent you an enquiry and haven't heard back?

Hold tight! I try my best to get back to all enquiries within 3-5 business days. If you haven't heard back from me during this time, send through a follow up email or message the @halo__horns instagram account.
